Peters Hill, BT13 2AD
About Peters Hill Apartments
The proposed development site is located at the intersection of Peters Hill and Townsend Street in Belfast, with additional frontage along Dayton Street. Covering approximately 0.23 hectares, the site is situated less than 50 meters from the Westlink, positioning it as a prominent corner with potential to become a notable feature in the area. Currently, the site is vacant and enclosed by 1.8-meter-high ornamental railings on the north, east, and south sides. The corner of Dayton Street and Townsend Street is separated from the main site by temporary metal fencing and has approval for a new 'transcendental meditation' centre under planning reference LA04/2022/1029/F.
Historically, the site accommodated the Elim Pentecostal Church, along with associated church hall buildings, a car park, and retail properties. Following the demolition of these structures, the site has remained vacant for a substantial period.
In June 2015, Andrea Gribben submitted a planning application (LA04/2015/0686/F) proposing the construction of two new blocks: one comprising 22 apartments and another designated for community and commercial use. This application was approved in December 2018.
In November 2024, Bluehouse Development Ltd submitted a planning application (LA04/2024/2002/F) proposing the development of 48 residential units. This includes 45 apartments distributed across two blocks of four to five stories, and three townhouse dwellings. The proposal encompasses on-street layby parking, a courtyard amenity space, covered bicycle and bin storage, landscaping, and all associated site works. The development aims to revitalise the vacant brownfield site, contributing to the area's regeneration by providing modern residential accommodations and enhancing the urban streetscape.
