About Nancy Mulligans Bar
Nancy Mulligans operates as a public house and kitchen, offering live sports, music, casual dining, and evening entertainment. Located within a densely built city centre block, the building is part of a continuous terrace of historic-style structures typical of Castle Street.
Nancy Mulligans opened in May 2019, taking over a premises previously occupied by The Sitting Room bar. The building itself has stood for over a century and was once home to The Volunteer Bar, which operated during the 1910s.
In May 2025, Walfrid Inns Limited submitted a planning application (LA04/2025/0895/F) proposing the creation of a beer garden attached to the existing pub. The beer garden will be situated in the existing rear yard of Nancy Mulligans, which is currently used for waste bin storage. This yard backs onto 22–24 King Street.
