About Lesley Parklands
Lesley Parklands is a recently completed residential development located in Knocknagoney, on the outskirts of Belfast. This modern development replaces the older structures that once stood on the site and provides a range of contemporary living spaces.
Before the 1960s, the Knocknagoney site saw very little development. During the 1960s, a social housing project led to the construction of a 45-unit apartment block, marking the beginning of significant development in the area.
In March 2008, Sacron submitted a planning application (Z/2008/0728/F) proposing the construction of 165 apartments with covered parking and landscaped amenities. This application was approved in March 2015.
April 2015: A fire broke out at the Parkland flats, requiring seven fire appliances to extinguish. Three people were rescued, and the flats were subsequently vacated due to extensive damage.
October 2015: The 3.43-acre Parklands site was listed for sale by Simon Brien, seeking offers around £2.25 million.
September 2016: Fire crews responded to another blaze at the Parkland flats.
December 2016: Kirk Bryson & Co. Ltd submitted a planning application (LA04/2017/0043/F) for demolishing the existing building and constructing 104 apartments with a fitness suite, parking, and landscaping. This application was approved in January 2018, but the development did not commence, and the site was re-listed by Osborne King for £3.95 million.
December 2018: HB Building Property Services Ltd submitted a planning application (LA04/2019/0025/F) for demolishing the existing structure and constructing 90 apartments with associated amenities. This application was approved in September 2019.
August 2020: Demolition and site enabling works began, followed by the construction of the new apartment block.
November 2021: HB Building Property Services Ltd submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) (LA04/2021/2661/PAN) for 90 apartments with changes to house types, balconies, and elevations. This proposal was under construction.
March 2022: A planning application (LA04/2022/0510/F) was submitted, seeking approval for 90 apartments with additional changes. This application was recommended for approval by the Belfast City Council Planning Committee in August 2022.
November 2022: P&K McKaigue Ltd successfully handed over the 90-unit Lesley Parklands apartment development in three phases, completed in September, October, and November 2022.
